Art is in the eye of the beholder! Many artists have endured harsh critiques and have been told, “That’s not art!” Fortunately, many of these artists have endured and become pillars of Art History, but unfortunately, many artists still face these harsh critiques today.
Emerging out of the Impressionist movement, Cubism focused on new ways of looking at an object, deconstructing it, and re-assembling it in a new view or even multiple views all at once. As a reaction to Cubism, Futurism looked more to the future and put forth optimistic ideals of artistic freedom and advancement of our society.
